Al Pinkerton MP visits Camberley Care

In early November we had a visit from the new MP for Surrey Heath, Al Pinkerton.
It was a great opportunity to explain what we do as a Charity and what more can be done to ensure we can continue to help the local community for many years to come.

Freedom of the Borough

Council Confers Honorary Freedom of the Borough

Surrey Heath Borough Council is delighted to confer the prestigious honorary Freedom of the Borough on six remarkable individuals and organisations, recognising their outstanding contributions to our community.

The Mayor of Surrey Heath, Councillor Sarbie Kang said;  “The Freedom of the Borough is the highest civic recognition we can bestow, and it is my great privilege to confer this honour.” The recipients of the Freedom of the Borough are:-

Camberley Care, in recognition of 50 years of volunteering within the community in support of the elderly, disabled and vulnerable members of the borough.

Ken Clarke, in recognition of his public service to the borough as a police officer, and as a local historian for his work to promote the history of Surrey Heath.

Maureen Hume, in recognition of her essential service to the community, working tirelessly in support of local people with dementia and their carers, as founder and chair of the Camberley Alzheimer’s Café.

Karen Jackson, in recognition of her essential service to the community as founder and Chair of Chloe’s and Sophie’s Special Ears Fund Charity, in support of local deaf children to give an everlasting positive impact to brighten their lives at home and in school.

Mary Keys, in recognition of her extensive public services to education as a Head Teacher and Governor and an educational researcher, and her services to charity as a volunteer and trustee for the Home Start and Frimley Fuel Allotment Charities.

Alexandra Matthews, in recognition of her International Rugby Career and her service in support of the development of community sport within the borough.


Some of Camberley Care’s staff and volunteers were present for the awarding of this honour.
