Data Protection considerations for Volunteers

Volunteers for Camberley Care should be aware of the Principles of Data Protection.

  • Lawfulness, fairness and transparency
  • Purpose limitation
  • Data minimisation
  • Accuracy
  • Storage limitation
  • Integrity and confidentiality (security)
  • Accountability

Job allocation emails include personal information (name, address, phone, disability, etc.) necessary for the volunteer to do the job. However, this Personal Information (PI) should not be shared or retained. These emails and the PI contained within them should be treated with care, particularly once the job is finished.

    • Record details for the job for an expenses claim (this need not involve personal information being retained)
    • Any printed copy of the job email should be disposed of (shredded or burned) once the job is finished and expenses claimed
    • Old job allocation emails should be deleted from your email system – on the email server and your PC or phone
